Stephen E. Loukas

President and Chief Executive Officer

Stephen Loukas was appointed Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Obsidian Energy Ltd. effective December 5, 2019 and elected to the Board of Directors following the 2018 Annual and Special Meeting. Mr. Loukas has vast experience in corporate transactions, capital markets and leadership. He is a partner, managing member, and portfolio manager at FrontFour Capital Group LLC, a value-based investment management firm. Mr. Loukas held roles including Director at Credit Suisse Securities where he was a Portfolio Manager and Head of Investment Research of the Multi-Product Event Proprietary Trading Group, and at Pirate Capital where he was a senior investment analyst. Mr. Loukas has also worked within the Corporate Finance & Distribution Group of Scotia Capital where he focused on the structuring and syndication of leveraged loans and high yield debt. Mr. Loukas started his career at restructuring firm Zolfo Cooper where he assisted corporate clients in the development and implementation of operational and financial restructuring plans. Mr. Loukas has previously served as a director of Xinergy Ltd. Mr. Loukas received a B.A. in Finance and Accounting from New York University.

Peter D. Scott

Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Scott joined Obsidian Energy in the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in December 2019. Mr. Scott brings over 30 years of experience in financial leadership, including 20 years as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Scott has been responsible for a wide variety of functional areas including finance, accounting, tax, budgeting and planning, investor relations, risk management, insurance, legal, marketing and general administration. Most recently, Mr. Scott held the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Ridgeback Resources Inc., previously Lightstream Resources Ltd., for seven years. Before joining Lightstream, Mr. Scott held Vice President Finance and Chief Financial Officer roles at several oil and gas companies including Iteration Energy Ltd., Rock Energy Inc., and Beau Canada Exploration Ltd.. Mr. Scott began his career with Amoco Canada Petroleum Company Ltd. in 1983.

Gary Sykes

Senior Vice President, Commercial and Development

Mr. Sykes joined Obsidian Energy in October of 2019, in the position of Vice President of Business Development, Commercial and Corporate Planning. Mr. Sykes has worked in a variety of technical, operational and managerial positions in locations including the UK, Canada, Indonesia, the USA and the Middle East. From 2012 to 2016 Sykes was President, Qatar and Iraq for ConocoPhillips managing the Company’s portfolio of regional assets. Since 2017, he has been engaged in supporting a small Private Equity backed oil and gas venture.

Mr. Sykes has extensive Board experience, including the Qatargas 3 joint venture, The Mackenzie Valley Pipeline Board and Calgary Zoo. Mr. Sykes earned an Honors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Glasgow University in 1990 and a Masters Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh in 1991.

Mark Hawkins

Vice President, Legal, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Mr. Hawkins has served as the corporate secretary since 2015 and was formerly the General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. Prior to joining the Company in March 2015, he was a senior associate with Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP in Vancouver from October 2010 to February 2015. Prior thereto, Mr. Hawkins was an associate with McCarthy Tetrault LLP in Calgary from June 2005 to October 2010. Mr. Hawkins has experience in corporate governance, securities and mergers and acquisitions law and has represented clients in a number of significant acquisitions and public offerings.

Cliff Swadling

Vice President, Operations

Mr. Swadling joined Obsidian Energy in January of 2017 and brings over 20 years of diverse experience across a range of operations and leadership roles.  He has held a variety of technical and leadership positions in a number of jurisdictions including Canada, Albania and Egypt.  Beginning his career in 1998, Cliff assumed roles of increasing responsibility in field operations, production, facilities, enhanced oil recovery, asset management, safety, asset retirement, and continuous improvement.  He has led several cost reduction and asset improvement efforts domestically and internationally with Apache Corp., Devon Energy, and Bankers Petroleum Ltd.  Mr. Swadling earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree, First Class Honors, in Physics from the University of Calgary in 1998.
